The nose offers notes of violet and bergamot. On the palate the wine shows fresh black plum and cassis. The blacker fruits are characteristic of a cooler year with a relatively large crop. The wine has lovely balance and the tannins are very soft. This is a wine that is approachable now and will drink beautifully for many years to come.
Vineyard Notes
The 2014 vintage brought us the third year in a row of perfect weather. A combination of moderate temperatures and no late season rain made it a great year for growers. Picking decisions were not forced, so winemakers could pick at ideal ripeness. Relatively high crop yields and a cooler growing season, led to more restrained wines in 2014.
Winemaker Notes
Each year we have barrels of wine, produced in the same manner as our flagship wine, that don’t end up in our main release. Our Beauty of Three is a blend of these lots. We created the Beauty of Three to allow our winemaking team the leeway to not use every barrel of 'A' quality wine in our flagship blend. This allows us to compose our 'perfect blend' without compromise. The Beauty of Three is not a second tier wine in that sense. . . rather, it is the first tier wine not used in the blend.
