Red currants - ripe Bing cherries - cassis - black plum
2016 is the inaugural vintage of Riley's Rows Cabernet Sauvignon. This delicious wine was made in a clean style, with balanced tannin influence from aging in 100% French oak barrels (60% new and 40% neutral barrels). The intention is to showcase the fruit profile and make a bright, varietally correct wine that displays supple barrel influence. This is a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon and a nice example of what the grape can do in California when it is well tended to. . .and we are offering it to you at a steal of a price! 211 cases produced
Riley’s 2016 Cabernet is a blend of 4 Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards and 2 different Merlot vineyards from Sonoma County and Lake County. These vineyards are some of our favorite locations within the North Coast region.
We fermented using solely open-top fermenters. Then, during barrel aging we used primarily medium toast barrels from Taransaud, Atelier Centre France, and Boutes with 60% of the barrels being new and 40% neutral.
The 2016 Riley’s Rows Cabernet has a bouquet of red fruits and baking spice. The palate starts with red fruits like currant and cherry and deepens into cassis and black plum on the mid-palate. The wine finishes with clean acidity, more dark fruits, and a hint of spice. The wine is excellent and a steal at this price!
